A fly fisherman’s paradise.

Kasba Lake Lodge offers fly fishing opportunities for both advanced and novice anglers. The ability to fish all three species of Northern Pike, Lake Trout, and Arctic Grayling on the fly is what really sets us apart. Catching these aggressive predators on the fly is one of life’s great sporting experiences and some of the most rewarding fly fishing in Canada.

Northern Pike

It’s often said that fly tackle is the most fun way to catch pike, but many experienced anglers believe that in far north, it’s also the most effective. Shallow-water pike, like those found in Kasba, love large, slow-moving, suspending baits, and few artificials do that as well as a fly. Fly-fishing for pike is also straightforward—if you can cast a fly 40, or even just 30 feet, you’ve got a shot at hooking a trophy.

Arctic Grayling

Grayling are opportunistic feeders, and greedily hit both wet and dry flies in the pools and runs of the Kazan. Fly anglers who know how to fish swift-flowing rivers will excel on this water, but less experienced anglers will also do well, since grayling are often aggressive, and not easily spooked. Fly anglers will also find that grayling are extremely sporting on trout-class tackle.

Lake Trout

Many anglers are surprised to learn that lake trout eagerly hit flies. Under calm conditions in the early season, Kasba lakers will actually take dry flies. Later in the season, when trout gather to feed on shallow-water baitfish, and fly casters can hook them on large streamer flies. Large lakers can also be taken by trolling flies on sinking lines. Few experiences compare to battling a Kasba bruiser on fly tackle.

Fishing and scenery were awesome, guides and staff were attentive and wonderful, and accommodations, meals and camaraderie were beyond expectations. I would highly recommend this trip and plan to do it again.

Fantastic service both prior to and during our trip to Kasba Lake Lodge, great accommodations and superb fishing. Would highly recommend the fly out fishing to the Kazman river which was awesome, I think we caught 70 plus Grayling, we lost count! Lots of Lake Trout and a huge big up to our guide Mik for all his efforts and great shore lunches.
