The 2005 season started with a bang on the 24th of June. The Big Pike were fighting hard in shallow waters; with VERY Big Pike from Eagle Rapids, Snowbird River and on our Pike fly-outs. Bradford and Nuggett produced Trophy filled days for our guests.
During the early summer, Trophy Trout were plying the shallow waters, hungry from a long winter nap. A number of fishermen landed Lake Trout on a dry fly; our Guides have pioneered many new ways of hooking Lake Trout up to 20 lbs.
As the season progressed the weather stayed cool; the Big Trout stayed up, to the delight of our anglers. Our experienced guides found a number of new spots to tease the Trout onto their guests' line. The shallow bays warmed up; the Northern Pike were in fighting form. A 48" giant was taken during this period.
With the start of the northern lights in August, Baitfish started schooling in the front bays and channels. As Trout fed on them, the action was fast and furious. Where there are 8 - 10lb. Trout, there will be larger ones feeding on them. Mark McGorman pulled a 34 lb. monster out of the middle of one of these flurries.
The last day of fishing this year was the best I've seen. Clear skies, calm wind, and our guides made the most of it! Multiple Trophies per boat were common, and not one guest wanted to get on the charter south the next day. The good news is that they're all coming back next year.
We look forward to seeing you, same time, same place.
Have a great winter,
Rob Hill and Family.
